The Fisher-Price Sweet Surroundings Deluxe Bouncer is a great seat that provides endless entertainment for a baby.
While the Deluxe Bouncer requires a bit of assembly, the manual was very helpful, so it took only a few minutes to put together. Make sure you have a screwdriver handy when you go to assemble.
The bouncer features a fuzzy padded seat that seems like it would be very cozy for little ones. A mini stereo plays both music and environmental sounds, and there’s also a hanging mobile. Our little boy loves the Deluxe Bouncer.
Our favorite parts were the wide (and did I mention comfortable?) seat, its sturdy base and the hanging mobile, which has been a nonstop source of entertainment for our baby. It’s big—really big—so our average-sized 4-month-old baby has plenty of room to move around, and he should be able to grow into the seat for months.
Visually it has a clean, modern look that lots of parents will appreciate. It comes in gender-neutral, soothing colors and gives an impression of quality construction. Additionally, the plush seat is removable, so it’s easy to clean. (Because the seat cushion detaches from the base, it can get jostled out of place and needs to be snapped back in. Not a big deal, but it can be annoying.)
The bouncer offers up to 20 minutes of sounds with volume control and vibration. The sound options are a soothing nature or a cheerful musical tune. The strong vibrating seat mesmerizes my baby. The seat requires three C batteries for these features, but they last a long time in the device.
The mobile with animal pals became more and more interesting to my son as he grew and developed. The first couple of weeks he didn’t seem to notice it, but as his eyesight improved he began to engage with the mobile and really enjoys it now! It was a great way to gauge his developmental stages. The mobile is hinged, so it can be moved out of the way when you’re picking baby up or when he’s just not in the mood for a mobile.
The three-point safety restraint is easy to fasten and keeps babes safely secured.
The only downside of the Deluxe Bouncer is its size, which makes it cumbersome to move around the house and to store. I won’t be transporting this seat to the grandparents’ house or taking it on vacation, but for an at-home entertainer it works well—as long as you’re not living in tight quarters.
In sum, the Fisher-Price Sweet Surroundings Deluxe Bouncer is a quality product with good-looking design all at a decent price point, and I definitely recommend it.
