Oilo baby bedding

If you haven’t heard of Oilo, it’s because they’re fairly new on the baby scene. If you have heard of them, it’s because it didn’t take long for them to make a splash with new moms and industry insiders.

The high-style line features modern furniture and fresh baby bedding with matching accents: lighting, pillows and—just as of recently—wall art. (Adult bedding is yet to come.) Because the beautiful co-owners have backgrounds in interior and graphic design, each piece is top-quality, high-functioning and aesthetically appealing in its symmetry.

There are currently seven baby bedding collections, and from those seven, I chose the design that was the most bold and “boyish.” The Wheels Motif set in Cobalt comes as a three-piece set:

• Foam bumper with zippered slip cover
• 17” crib skirt
• Fitted cotton percale crib sheet

Each piece sports the same crisp cobalt and white, but in different patterns for nice complementary contrast. Unlike with the pale but pretty bedding I picked for my daughter, I know my baby will be able to see the contrast in this bedding within the first days and weeks after birth, so he can start building those cerebral connections.

Upon unpacking the bedding, I was amazed at the thick, durable materials, unlike any baby bedding I’ve come across before. It feels like it will last through many washes—and even multiple babies—without showing wear and tear. The foam-filled bumper can stand on its own, so it won’t look floppy in the crib, and the heavy-duty skirt is built to hang straight. The sheet is nice and thick, and the thin stripes look great with the larger patterns on the bumper and skirt. I like that I can switch it out for plain white if I want to stock the nursery with cheapbackups, or I can buy additional matching sheets for $50 apiece.
